Counter Impressions - Art Auction 2005. Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005. 2:00 - 4:00 at XEXE Gallery. Presented by the Chinese Canadian National Council Toronto Chapter

President's Address

Dear fellow art lovers,

There are many ways for people to express ourselves. Some of us communicate our feelings and beliefs through spoken words and others through written text. Of course, there are the exceptionally gifted people who express themselves through the arts. Whether this is through music, theatre, film, dance or; my personal favourite, the visual arts.

When I first proposed the idea four year ago that the CCNCTO sponsor an art auction fundraiser; I had no idea how quickly this event would grow. Three art auctions later, it has now become the most successful fundraising project for CCNCTO in our 25 year history.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the enthusiasm and dedication from our valuable volunteers. All the beautifully printed promotional material, including the postcards and souvenir program guides were created by our committed volunteer design team lead by Wil Chung, Janice Kun and Katie Yumol. Special thanks should also be given to our staff person, Barnett Chow, for the many hours of coordination to ensure another successful event.

Finally, I would like to thank you our wonderful sponsors; the artists who donated so generously; the talented jury who selected the final submission pieces and to all attendees for their continued support of our advocacy work at CCNCTO.

Happy New Year and best of luck with the bidding!

Kristyn Wong-Tam
