Wan Yuen was a new immigrant from Mainland China in 2004. She was being threatened to death by her husband even when she was in China. She had to leave her children and run away from her husband. In 1999, Sacrifice followed a business study tour from Shanghai to Toronto.  Coincidently, someone introduced a widowed man to her.  She thought of her only daughter who always wanted to leave China.  She considered it was a way to get her daughter out of China by marrying with this man and applying for a family reunion.  Therefore, after around a year, Sacrifice married her ex-husband.
