On March 14th, 2023, the Chinese Canadian National Council Toronto Chapter (CCNCTO) and Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto, released a community report capturing the voices of Chinese Canadians and the impact of anti-Asian racism on the community before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research team collected data through an online intergenerational community research event in 2022, in which members of the Chinese Canadian community shared and discussed their experiences on anti-Asian racism. Through this university-community collaboration and the new way of virtual community-participatory research methodology, the report reveals the community's feelings of "wu nai" - a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness, as well their hopes for the future.
